French Embassy in Maputo

The Embassy of France in Maputo coordinates France's diplomatic, cultural, and development cooperation engagement with Mozambique and Eswatini (concurrent accreditation). France supports Mozambique through development programmes focusing on governance, education, sustainable development, and cultural cooperation. Mozambique's accession as an observer member of the Francophonie in 2018 strengthened institutional ties. The embassy provides consular services for French nationals travelling in or residing in Mozambique — from Maputo's Portuguese colonial architecture and seafood culture to the Indian Ocean diving destinations, beach resorts, and wildlife experiences that draw French tourists. Ambassador Yann Pradeau leads the mission, which includes political, economic, cultural cooperation, defence, and consular divisions.
